As a child....
There was a place I liked to hide.
As a man....
Someone in whom I could confide.

As a child....
A place to run through unbound and free.
As a man....
A person whom I would've loved to see.

As a child....
Looking left and right at the marigolds around.
As a man....
Memories of being held and comforted without a sound.

As a child....
It had always been a place of delight.
As a man....
Recurring dreams of life in the moonlight.

As a child....
Puzzled as mother cried and stayed.
As a man....
Understanding it was where father laid.

There within the marigolds.....

Mark, this is a very touching and sincere poem. I really enjoyed reading it. It's one of those that you read and sit dumbfounded by it's simple brillance.

What they said, Mark

I loved the way you brought closure to this poem. A clean close is so hard to get in a lot of situations. If a person reads a poem and then goes, "Man!" - that's clean closure.

Man!
