I truly do hope this puts you to sleep!
---------------------------------------------

Of the moon......

Of breaking stride, and cold blue stars gleaming,
thin gray clouds were halfway covering the pale, dark sky
as silvery layers wove round the white orb undying,
while above faint night clouds black and gray constantly streamed
covering the void, the eternal gap of space,
then uprisen slow, the moon halted;
like silver rain the moon poured its soul forth
and the waters shoon pale and glassy,
fish swimming around underwater leaves and the creak
that the trees made as the wind deftly made a path through;
a pond full of moonlight became an ocean
as fireflies danced sparkling in a festoon swirling -
twas as having seen a million heavens
as in bewildering delight the night flared up,
sparkling a million beams of light, as gray cloud pulled free
and drifted towards home bound journey endless;
and I collapsed on the grass, upon flawless shifting of shadows
that haunted my soul in passing, haunted my dreams,
and the moon now looked upon me,
shooting blind silver arrows piercing my soul
and plucking the silver harp melodiously, till tomorrow waketh
all souls felled by the moon lullaby.

Most excellent job! I really liked this. You used your wording very well. Sounds like an awsome summer night, laying under the stars!!!

My utmost favorite thing to do, lying underneath all the gleaming stars of old..... well-captured! And the moon.....

All of the different kinds of light and reflections used here makes this a (what else?) brilliant poem. It is well crafted, sir! (I assume shoon is a typo)

It makes me feel good, all you have said.... thank you! *blush*

Balladeer, sir, shoon is no typo. It's an archaic form of "shone" - writers like Tolkien and Chaucer (my favorites!) have used those..... an example by Chaucer:

"Hit was of golde, and shoon so bright,"

Same way as o'er & ere.
