I close my eyes
and I dream
of sleep,
my old,
inconstant lover.
Into my mind,
the visions now creep,
at the edges
they hover.

As soft
as the kiss
of a razor,
that whistles
out of the dark.
I must shake off
this foggy haze or,
my own neck
will catch
that arc.

There are times
I'm filled
with great sadness,
from knowing
the things I know.
All of them
fertilize my madness,
thank God
that it doesn't show.

I can't sleep
because of the nightmares,
the quaking things
that take me.
Staying awake,
draws too many stares,
as I wail
like a banshee.

Why is it
no one else
can see them,
the things that crawl
through my veins.
Why is my consciousness
growing dim?
Why
am I held
down by chains?

The needle
is all that brings relief,
with it come
the vacant stares.
Until then
I'll wallow
in my grief,
while madness
takes all my cares.

another one, another poem that leaves me breathless, although I really think you need your sleep ; ) the casanova of the night has thought up another one.......

I absolutely love it! the flow and the line breaks were superb, they allowed for excellent reading. Bravo, casanova, bravo!
