Thank you, Lord, for making Heaven the color of her eyes
For the blueness that I look into is the color of the skies,
And thanks again for making the dove the color of her skin

And for painting the sunrise with the glow of her early-morning grin.

Thank you, Great One, for making the sun the color of her hair
For the texture and the softness that I find beyond compare,
And for giving the warm, mid-summer breeze the softness of her touch.
All these wonders of nature you created from the one I love so much.

Thank you, sweet Lord, for giving angels the purity of her face
And for giving the larks her happiness and the wind, her warm embrace,
Her brilliance to the peacock, her tranquility to the sea
And thank you, Lord, most of all for giving her to me.

Beautiful! I'm sure she cried when you read this to her...your poems should be read aloud you know...there's a depth and feeling that only when spoken aloud can the soul truly be touched.

Actually, I wrote it for my labrador retreiver but thank you for the kind comments. Sunshine, can you play fetch?

Only a retreiver would have an early morning grin
For most of us would like to just roll over like a dog and go to sleep again!

Balladeer...another beautiful piece of work, and would a woman be so fortunate as your dog to have a piece of work like this written about her...she would be truly lucky.

fetch is what I do best,
my master to appease
but watch out, for sometimes I come
with mud, and dirt, and fleas.

Right back at you, Balladeer!
