No words can console you
Nothing can ever be the same
He is gone from this world forever
Only his memories remain.

Memories you will hold near and dear
These you will always have
You will see your son in his children
And whom they grow up to become.

They say God only takes the best
But if that were true
The earth would be a pitiful place
Without people like him and you.

I hope one day you can remember him
And these memories make you smile
He would want that for you
Knowing how much you miss him all the while.

He gave his life for us
He sacrificed everything he had
To Serve and Protect was his duty
His death is very sad.

Lest we never forget
The courage this man showed
Adn find the strength within ourselves
To carry on and uphold.

The path he has laid for us
Of Peace on earth
And with one another.

this poem was written and is dedicated to the family of a policeman in my area that was killed in the line of duty.
