Listening to every heart

0 posted 1999-07-18 09:21 PM

A long, long time ago
before the computer light glow
I wrote my words of light prose
from simple writing my words flowed.

In childish scribble, then teen scrawl,
words that cried, words that crawled
along the lines, fluid rhyme
and with each phrase, I took my time.

Now the world’s a different matter,
and my computer quickly clatters,
words coming too fast, sometimes unclear,
so my real words I do not hear.

Sometimes new only enhances old,
to my talents I should hold
on to what is not broken or rusty,
a gift we can all share, trust me.

So away from your ‘puter, grab a Pen
and paper yellow, brown or white lined,
and with scribble or scrawl or penmanship fine
you will enjoy that much more the words that you rhyme.

I love my computer, but always have paper and pen handy..even in my purse for those odd, waiting moments when my mind is free to wander....you never know when a poem will strike!

When I write (my books)
I type away, and let my fancy flow.
But when it's poetry,
my heart would show,
a pen I grab, oh and paper too.
For nothing less can truly show
That which is really you!

The other day, I was walking home from work. All of the sudden, my mind started racing. I had to have something to write on, so i grabbed an old receipt and a pen. My sister thought I had lost it. Now, I never leave the house without pen and paper. Even when i'm on the computer, I find myself writing things down on paper.

I was at a stop light the other day, writing a poetry line or two on a napkin.  I find myself counting beats to poetic phrases in my mind at the oddest times.  People think I am so intently working -- and really I am lost in poetry and writing ideas on a scrap of paper before stuffing it in my pocket and moving on with my day.

Yep, I love this, Sunshine.
