I’ve been asked speak to you my friends
on behalf of the gentleman sitting here
don’t be misled by his horned head
stay calm, there is nothing to fear.

Beelzebub has felt your wrath
and wants to have his say
he asked that as a poet divine
I speak for him today.

He says that crime is not his fault
it wasn’t his invention
he says being prince of the dark
was not his first intention.

He wanted to create a place
where sinful pleasures rule
like chocolate cake and whipping cream
and pans of blueberry fool.

His goal was to put together
all the things we didn’t need
the things that were considered
as gluttony or greed.

But things got out of hand he says
then went from bad to worse
and so he’s asked I plead his case
right here in this little verse.

He asks that you forgive him
and grant him immunity
allow him to find a home
in your little community.

He promises to be good as he can
and do penance here on earth
He’ll fight evil every chance he gets
to prove to you his worth.

And in conclusion, the Devil says
one promise to you he’ll make
if you grant him leniency
he’ll grant you Devil’s Food Cake!

I'll take a slice...nah...I'll take two of that devil's food cake with chocolate and whip cream! I always enjoy reading your work.
Thank you.

A little nonsense
now and then
is good for even
devilish men!
