A long long time ago,
I can still remember how the toilets used to really shine

And I knew if I had my chance, I’d clean the toilets with my pants
And maybe they’d be shiny for a while

But Mr. Clean had ruined my liver.
Lysol sold me down the river

Not a mop was stroking
The janitors were toking

I can’t remember if I wept
Or soiled the bed on which I slept
But I was feeling so inept…

The day…
That I …
Was fired

I finished moppin’

Bye-Bye
To my cleaning supplies
Shipped my bucket to Nantucket
Hung the mats out to dry
Took down my plaque
For top custodial guy
Weepin’ this has been the day I was fired.

Great job! "American Pie" is one of my all time favorites, so I had to see what you had done. You have a good sense of humor.

Sincere thanks for your kind words. I had planned on doing the whole song but as I was writing, I hear Weird Al Yankovic's parody of it, and I didn't want to overkill... Thanks guys!

One of my favorite songs. I use to sing it to my daughters when they were just wee ones. I don't think it will ever be the same for me after this. Thanks for the laugh... you are surely a trip to somewhere.

The tastiest slice of American Pie I've seen. Makes more sense than driving my Chevy to the levee. Wonderful joB!

I'm just laughing my heart out. You are so crazy. I love that song...never thought of re-writing it in such an original version. Very impressive. I wish I could read more but time evades me...

miss you making me laugh.

Thanks guys! Though all 4 members of the Poetic Wheelbarrow have been inactive recently, it is not without cause... we have been on the run from a group of malcontent members from the local cement mixers union, 652. It seems that after our recent visit we left something running that shouldn't have been running, and yada yada yada...we've made them very unhappy. We shall be active again once we slay these damndable fiends.

Ok, like they said... I'll never hear that song again the same.

It's warmth will dry my tears.
