The flower stood at road's end,
swaying softly in the breeze.
Petals float to catch the air.
Leaves press to catch the sun.
It's beauty stood for all to see
and all to love
and all to hold.
The only flower
in the road.
Many passed, and saw the lilly.
Many smiled, and smiled many.
Until the man, that cut it down
to capture for his wife one day.
Passersby no longer smiled,
and never missed the flower.
What they did not see
they did not miss,
but they never knew
the beauty they never saw;
Stolen from them by a man that
thought he could capture beauty.

Very unconventional. The rhyme scheme was kind of weird. It works though. Well somewhat in my opinion. I would have tried to add a little more rhyme at the end. It flowed beautifully until the last four or five lines then it just kind of fizzled. The point was well driven home. I am only talking about the rythm of the poem itself and not the content. I would watch out for that in the future.
