**this is a poem I found several years ago, and I hung onto it...thought I'd share it with everyone.
--------------------------------------------

I'm a lovely girl
And i have lovely toenails
Paula says, "life is good."
And I believe her,
Although she's referring
To Italian dressing.
Life is good.
I realized this months ago,
Looking at pictures of dead people.
Smiling, hugging,
No one frowns for the camera.
Despite their disappointing lives
and drunken husbands,
Only their happiness is recorded and
remembered.
So life is good;
These people tell us so.
I love being a lovely girl
In a lovely world
Where life is good
A minority of one.
Stick figures trapped in an ink and
Paper world, measured by the blue lines
and the blank quicksand,
Like the photographs in a pile.
Smiling roadkill.
But life is good, Paula says so.

I read this poem a few times over...very cute(if that's what I may call it?)I read this one to a friend and we had a good laugh...reminds me of a good reason to smile next time I feel like my life is over. Thank you!

hi,
i wrote that poem in high school and i just found it again because i was bored and googled myself. it's really amazing and flattering to me that someone has kept track of it for 15 years. it kind of embarassed me at first, and now i think it's kind of cool.it's really touching when something you write or paint or whatever has an effect on a complete stranger. thank you. i registered to this site and now i'm really excited to read everyone's poetry. maybe it will inspire me to start writing it again.
thanks, sunny

Hi Sunny,

It is nice to meet you, I still have the magazine article in my keepsake that the poetry was displayed in.  I believe the magazine was "Sassy".
