I promised myself that today I'd stop loving you
then the wind rushed through the trees
and my heart heard the surf
and my soul remembered your arms
cradling me as the sun dipped into the horizon
and I got all shivery inside
and tried to push away the feelings
that engulf me from time to time

if I let them
if I think
if I remember
if I breathe

I promised myself that tomorrow I'd stop loving you
but tomorrow the wind will still blow
and the waves will crash, and the crescent moon glow
and I will again be powerless to let you go
though it would be kindness in itself to set you free

maybe next week I can stop loving you
maybe I can forget your hands on my skin
maybe I can erase the mark you have seared
upon the depths of my very soul

maybe I'll postpone not loving you
til next year, or the year after
or maybe never
my head makes not these decisions
I am lead only by my heart

You'll never get out of that love alive.

Oh Isabelle...I read your words, and it's like they are my own, coming from my own heart. Thank you for striking those chords.

Darling, this is possibly the most beautiful poem that you have ever written for me. At the moment, it is certainly the one with the most feeling and meaning to it. I love you.

Darn! Another one that I thought was for me! I'll get one right some day.
