When I am alone I have the right to voice aloud
The newest words I’ve created just to make me proud
The freedom to talk of things with such bliss and ignorance
With relief there’s no one to tell me that I'm not making sense

I love to roll off my tongue such pretty little words
Of two or three syllables no matter how absurd
That little feeling in myself that makes it all worthwhile
To see them coalesce take their form of meter and of style

As soon as they are there they flit away from my head
For there are new words and rhymes just waiting to be said
Stationary seems never needed to be close at hand
I was to take down these thoughts who would care to understand

It was at night when this dreamy thought had come to me
Awake from slumber there a pen to write down hurriedly
As my wife called me back to bed my head hanged down low
What were those thoughts so grand so bright might be ill never know

Like I said, a great piece, a nice slice of your soul.

Quite fabulous, walt! I enjoy one who can write about his own writing! And with great emotion too!

Hey wayout!

I recently posted a poem called "hide & seek" on same subject.... ain't it the truth, my friend? Damn her, that Muse... playing with rhymes and words, then snatching 'em away before you get a chance to write them down. Nice one.
