Why Bother

I’m less than happy, filled with dread
Tired of trying to see blue skies ahead
I don’t think you’ve heard a word I have said
Why do I bother trying

I’m filled to the brim with so much grief
It steals my sunshine like a thief
I’m too tired to find any relief
Why do I bother trying

My life’s a joke, my job a scam
I no longer even know who I am
I simply must say I just don’t give a damn
Why do I bother trying

The words seem to just rattle on
Like brittle leaves blown over the lawn
My hopes and dreams-over-gone
Why do I bother trying?

------------------
Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind...
