( I created this from a newspaper article to prove to a non-believer that poets can write about anything......)

The termites ate the church, my friends
The walls are falling down!
The pulpits in an awful mess,
The alter's on the ground!

The pews are filled with holes, my friends,
The organ will not play.
The vestibule is history,
The bell tower's gone away!

The rafters once had been a home
To squirrels, doves and pigeons.
The termites took that all away
With their 'taste' of religion.

The preacher knows not what to do.
He really is perplexed!
He prays for help to God on high
(But he calls Terminex!)

The termites ate the church, my friends
And that's my sorry tale.
Those sacriligeous munchers
Have destroyed my holy grail!!!

Ok, Balladeer, now post the story! Great job! I think we all do our best work when challenged by non-believers [of anything]!

I think it's safe to say Balladeer, that you've easily won that bet...you've proven that even termites have life in the words of a great poet...

A room of unbelievers --
Geesh, who would've thought!
There's termites everywhere you look --
And don't tell me there's not!

They eat up every word you write
as if you were a mystic!
The number of responses proves this Balladeer Statistic.

And why shouldn't they?
Your writing's on time!
They like how you play
with the words and the rhyme
to tell a short story
'bout life from your heart--
Some termites have good taste
right from the start.

There's termites in the forum!
Watch out! They have escaped!
They'll eat up every word you write!
They're in awe, for heaven's sake.

-------
Geesh, sorry! Just can't help it sometimes. Hehehehe.

Perhaps:

Tammy Fay Termite told Jimmy Termite that 'you are what you eat'..so the 'et themselves a new religion. Tammy Fay Termite went out and pulled the legs offen some centipedes to make hersef some eyelashes. Jimmy Termite 'et right through the box holdin' the money for the poor and hired some poor dumb beetles to carry back to his place.

And the moral of the story is: watch out for termites with fake eyelashes! (believe me it has saved me many times in the past - I am living proof!)

p.s. loved the poem Balladeer

Hmmmmm!  Is this how you got into debugging?
LOL

Render unto Ceasar What is Ceasars

The preacher waited far too long
when he heard descending wings,
Did he think that munching song
was the sort an angel sings?

He sought faith to meet his need.
The bugs took it all to heart,
each with a grain of mustard seed,
and vowed to do their part.

But those sordid little devils
left the preacher in the lurch;
as their faith reached higher levels
they removed the whole .... church!

With rendered prayers unto the Lord
and his trust in holy might
He should've rendered that ravenous horde
of termites unto Mike!
