There hasn't been a fairer day Then the last I came upon Though birds do sing, sweetly, A new song for each new day The breeze is not so kindly to these melodies As the one this day has sung Neither valley, nor peaked majesty Nor clouds tossed to and fro Will make a day so happily made As that hallowed day for me For mice have played But not in praise of things they marvel But for that which we send a rose Company I kept this day made full My memories for keeping A delight of which I cannot speak Lest tears I wish to pull A sorrow now I feel is creeping For my tongue may not be happy Speech may be another's weeping ------------------ -Talia |
