Gazing out at the starry sky,
The young boy gave out a little sigh.
He stretches out his bony hands,
Trying to grasp the stars with feeble attempts.

Young at age ,but stricken with AIDS.
Life is unfair, but maybe this is fate.
His mother was an AIDS carrier.
She died a moment ago, leaving him in tears.

It's hard for a young child like him to accept reality.
Witnessing his mother's death, tainted those innocent eyes of his.
Hope and joy once filled his heart.
What's left now,are only tears in the dark.

The child grew weaker with each passing day.
Doctors shake their heads and "God Bless You" is what they could only say.

His time soon came,on a cold winter night.
He felt someone holding his hands, sitting by his side.
A soft warm hand was gently stroking his hair.
It felt so comforting,he wasnt scared.

He opened his eyes and was dazzled by the light.
"My angel has come",he softly cried.
"Come to me Lucas",the angel said.
"I'll take you away, from this world to the next".
Dawn was breaking and soon it was morning.
The sun shone brightly and birds were singing.

Lucas passed away peacefully.
When he died,he was finally smiling.

Innocent children all over the world suffer from AIDS.
It's not their fault, but they got punished instead.
May there be also angels when those children part,
From this world to the next and find happiness within their hearts.

Your poem was lovely, sad but lovely. Was this based on a real child? If so, I'll have to cry all over again! Welcome to the family.

Tears from the heart of a person who had an AIDS striken friend.. This is a wonderful piece and I hope that you keep writing.. Isn't it funny where you can get inspiration?
You have moved me to tears..

Lady
