Who doesn’t cry on the Fourth of July
when Old Glory so proudly waves?
Whose heart doesn’t pound at the very sound
of ten guns at the warrior graves?
Do you feel a slight chill with hand over heart
as the Star Spangled Banner is played?
Does a tear trickle down your cheek
seeing Vets march in a parade?
Does the sight of a child clutching a flag
make you hopeful for the future of man
Do you feel pride in your birthright today
from whence this greatness began?
If you answered yes to all the above
if your country you will defend
then you are the greatest of patriots,
a true American, my friend.

Poet,

Excellent! Your thoughts about this holiday coincide with mine completely. This is a weekend for loving who we are....
