Walking through the garden of my soul,
I am struck by a singular thing.
I find,
as I wind
between fountains and flowering Shrubs,
the colors are muted at night.

All the colors of my life
don't even rate as pastels,
red roses seem black,
white mums seem gray.
Gone are the colors
that once brought delight.

There is beauty
in my garden still,
not seen by the eye.
The rustling of leaves,
heady perfume,
gentle breeze
like a lover's sigh.

The rich smell of loam
from a fertile mind,
even the weeds
contribute to the grace,
wild and tangled
and filled with many needs.

I sit by the sundial,
useless thing,
waiting for the clouds to break,
and with them bring
the only thing
to make my heart ache.

From over the lake,
Moonlight streams,
brightening my garden with her glow.
All the colors seem to bleed and flow
Into my dreams you know.

Tonight though,
my Moonlight
causes me fright.
There is a dimness,
a darkening of her light.
For all she has given me,
it is only right,
I will take her dancing
in my garden tonight.

I really love this one.
Even the title is beautiful.
And the whole idea and story is really good.
Beautiful!

I have to agree with Moonlight... I really like this poem as well. It is very vivid...I can see it in my mind's eye.

Thank you all for your response. It still amazes me that anyone likes these slices of Darkness.

Heartfelt adoration for you as always Moonlight.

Why I'm getting this response baffles me. I don't mean to repeat myself, but...Why?

Not that I'm complaining!!

Maybe it's because of your enduring and different poetic qualities?

I enjoyed this one too, it paints such a vivid picture. You are similar to being a Pablo Picasso of poetry.

Thank you, very much. I'm trying to write pieces that cause emotion, Picasso I'm not, but I appreciate the comparison.

I don't see why you're baffled or even surprised...it's beautiful the way you've made a moment of your life flow into a garden...impressive and touching...keep stirring those emotions...

Just the fact that you would take the fact that colors are muted at night and weave it into a poem of quality is reason enough for high praise.
