:I'm not sure what day is it is...the sun is clouded by smoke, and dust

Dear Journal,

You are all I have left,
I know that I won't be here long,
So bare with me, while I shed my feelings, and innermost thoughts and fears.

Fear:
It's what I feel,
I've fought for my country,
The United States of America.
Home of the free.
Yes, we've made it.
We've finally broke through the british government.
Lousy bastards.
Cost me and arm and a leg.
Litterally.
You know that out of all of this there is only one thing I've learned.
Don't look back.
You'll get your a** blown off.
I'm too sick to laugh, so I'll just cry instead.
I wonder what my children and doing now?
Probably in bed, and my beautiful Kathleen is reading to her.
My beautiful Kathleen.
We were married 2 years ago. Maybe 2 years ago today, or tomorrow.
I don't think it matters anymore.
Good God!! Save me!!
Bring me back to my precious children!
They need me! I NEED THEM!
You know I wanted to fight for one reason.
That was to help my country!
I had a dream that one day America would be free.
I guess I have forgotten to but into my head the fact that I might not make it home.
The government didn't tell me.
I'm only 19!!
They made me fight, as much as I wanted to, they still made me.
Geez, my leg kills.
Guess that's what you get for looking back.
Looking back on the pain, and the suffering.
I guess I should thank god I'm in one piece.
Unlike a lot of them out there.
Blown to smithereens
My friend died 5 minutes ago.
I can't even begin to think about whats going through his mind.

Here's a poem I wrote last night:

We are here to fight
The bold young men
To fight for our country free

Sent by god
To watch our friends die,
And to never see our children again.

Let me die!
For nothing could be worse
Than to never see my beautiful Kathleen

I pray to you tonight
As every day that follows
The one day I'll be home again.

Well thats about it.
I'll say goodnight now, maybe
Forever.

Sincerely,
Walter Benson.
