The Bed and Breakfast of My Dreams

Satin sheets with polka-dots
neatly placed upon the king-sized bed.
Plush peach carpet under feet
leaving dents where I stand.
Spiral Staircase up to balcony
where Ian Anderson plays
"Minstrel in the gallery" upon his flute.
Couch of blue with velvet upholstery
catches those who need a snooze.
Fluffy orange tabby finds a lap,
you wake to the sound of contentment.
Mahogany table, and captains chairs
delight the oriental rug below.
The smell of apple-walnut muffins
arouses the hunger of the guests.
Into the kitchen they prance
to savor the taste of delightful baking
created by their hostess,
at the bed and breakfast of my dreams.

i am probably the last person on earth who has NOT stayed in a B & B, but it's on my wish list.

I love this one, if I put on a Jethro Tull CD
and close my eyes. . . .

what a lovely poem..and what a unique subject.. I am sure some B & B somewhere (perhaps in Maine?!) would be proud to display as their official poem!
I've only been in one B &B before but believe me, it was a gorgeous time, I strongly suggest everyone spurlges at least once!
