Moments of Innocence

What treasures spring
From the minds of the young
(Those that the world
Has not yet stung)?
Their dreams to reality
Do give rise,
And lightning flickers
In their eyes.
What love does pour
From the hearts of youth!
Those who still place
Their faith in Truth
Moments of innocence,
Quick to fade,
Cannot stop the sweetest
Promises made.

I admire your skill in this and your other work but may I take a stand for those of us of advancing years

What of the aged

They tell tales through their years
(Of troubles heartache and fears)
their dreams achieved poor token
who’s hands held together the broken
saw the truth smashed as youth slept
working harder for promises kept

I like that.

At 33, I haven't the luxury of youth nor the wisdom of age. Just divided vision...

great lines inside this... is anyone ever that young or have that much naivete nowadays? we seem to be hellbent on raising streetsmart kids that know all the angles..
I must be getting old..I'm longing for the days of yesteryear..and I'm only 28! lol
