It started way back in pre-school
Oh those days of wonder and bliss
I played the clown, the teacher’s fool
Oh those days I do dearly miss

Not a worry of getting caught
Running amuck throughout the halls
I guess I deserved what I got
When I had to make those calls

“Hello Mommy? Yes it’s your son
Please stop cryin’ for it’s good news
No, I wasn’t havin’ any fun
And this time I left no bruise”

Sighing softly she hung up the phone
But in five minutes I was back
I guess I really should have known
A frog could cause a heart attack

And of all the ones I treated so poor
I think of my second grade teacher
A call on the phone, a knock on her door
But for some reason I just can't reach her
