I Dont Remember Not Loving YouŠ1998 Genea Parker
I remember the day you were born, that cold February morn.
I held you close to me.
And when your first tooth came in, you smiled a lopsided grin.
You were happy as could be.
I remember your first day at school, swimming lessons in the pool,
Roller-skating in the drive.
Your energy truly amazed me; your enthusiasm gave me
A reason to be alive.
How could a parent forget the night we sat and wept
Our old dog had died.
Or the baseball games you won, summer picnics in the sun.
We laughed till we cried.
I remember the sorrow. I remember the joy.
I remember when you handed me your new baby boy.
I may have forgotten the times, you told me little lies.
The times you didnt tell the truth.
But I dont remember not loving you.
