in my mind
the world is pink
tinted in the glow of sunset

cars pulling home
dogs being fed
suburbia beckons to the faint of heart
and they crumble;
without a fight.

Your voice reminds me of things I've never wanted

it makes the impossible seem real

the mundane

beautiful

now I wish for the sunset to be ours
and the dog to scratch at the backdoor
waiting to be let out
so she can meet your car in the drive
as I take out the trash-

so that we both can say

"welcome home"

I love this poem "the mundane beautiful" a good welcome home is all I need sometimes. I want to comment on your free verse.. you do it well imagery is strong and words meaningful that they carry the weight without the need of rhyme.. thank you for sharing
