There was a time I felt I knew what poetry was for.
But since I’ve come to read these words it leaves me wanting more.
The ballads and the sonnets and the rhyming rhythms too.
The words swim round and round my head till I want to write them too.
The poets that I admire here, with all their life’s regrets.
The stories of the broken dreams and the lovers that they’ve met.
They make the little snatches of my life seem dull and dumb.
The poems I put on paper here could not compare to some.
I find myself returning here every minute or so it seems.
To read about the newest hurts and long lost lovers dreams.
I just cant seem to get enough of other peoples pain.
It drives me to a point of being poetically insane.
So I will be the one who reads your heartfelt misery.
The often returning visitor to Passions in Poetry.

I, often times as you, feel very much the same.
Doubting I could compare, afraid my poetry would shame.
Then I read the comments given to each and every one.
You see my dear, all of us here, have our moments in the sun.
A poem is something personal, different meanings for those who read.
Some bring us joy and happiness, others leave our souls to bleed.
I'm not ashamed my work's not the best..I give it to you free.
Just remember in those lines you read...with every word..it's me.

We're not having a contest. (thank goodness..hee hee) This is a place for ALL to post. Isn't it wonderful??!!

If you haven't experienced a life that is contained in some of these sad poems, count your blessings! and reading them is the right thing to do. Anyone who feels bad about their problems should walk down to the nearest hospital and look around. Like reading poetry, it will allow you to sympathize with others and, at the same time, feel good about your own life. Poetic insanity? More like poetic therapy, poetic life evaluation. We welcome you whenever you come...and your poem was VERY good.

I've searched for a long time to find a 'home' that would welcome my poetry and me. This is the place. Lucie, if you ever get a chance, read some of Ron Carnell's poems, he created Passions and it's an extension of his 'passion' for the written word and 'passion' for bringing people together. You are welcome here - we share the good poems, the bad poems and the so-so poems. Don't get discouraged if no one responds to a specific poem, there are so many new people joining the group, with so many diverse tastes, not everything will suit everyone.

This poem is wonderful. I think you should e-mail it to Ron. He will be so pleased at what you've said.

I look forward to reading more from you.

Welcome to your poetic home.
