In response to desparado's challenge... a day in the life of a prosecutor...

Before the judge at tender years,
Without remorse, she sheds no tears.
She stands alone, in crowded room
Amidst the pain of mother's tomb.
Does not she hear the mournful cries
Behind her mask of vacant eyes?
Within her soul, dark demons kept,
As mother died and family wept
Thoughout the court, deep pallor's gloom
What evil came from mother's womb.
It cannot be the reason why
The young girl said she caused to die.
To run away, a mother's life
To kill one's flesh in senseless strife.
Inside I scream; why this cancer?
Yet I know there is no answer.
I do my job, I shed no tear
But deep inside, a parent's fear
I stand alone in crowded room
Amidst the pain of mother's tomb.

This is truly exceptional work...
You've captured some very sensitive subject matter and portrayed it beautifully...
Did I neglect to mention that you've also used metaphorical imagery quite effectively??

More of your good work, please??

You've captured both the frustrations and the fears of a frustrating, frightening job. Dealing so closely with what is often the darker side of humanity has got to be difficult...

I must needs concur with the prior responses. Never have I thought of the legal occupation's perspective in what they face daily, those sore trials and tribulations of moral disease. Thank you Tim, for sharing such with us.

I do appreciate the art of being rendered speechless...
