Drinkin' and women that's all you know
your always on the run.
Here I sit with one small child
while your out havin' fun.

We used to go together
we shared the fun and joy.
But now I sit home all alone
with just a baby boy.

You showed me that you loved me
in the sweetest kind of way.
You knew I sinned, but you just laughed
and now I'm left to pay.

Who wants a girl who has never wed
with a small child to rear?
Who's been loved and cast aside
for another you now call "Dear".

Drinkin' and women that's all you know
your always on the run.
Spendin' money on babes and booze
instead of on your son.

But one day you'll remember
the love you wouldn't share.
With a girl who really loved you
and a boy with curly hair.

And as you sit in some run down bar
listening to another drunk moan.
Just stop to think of one small thing,
sweetheart your all alone.

I've got your babies smile
my precious little dear.
His first word will be "Mommy"
the word "Daddy" you'll never hear.

Back streets and dim lit bars,
baby thats all you'll know.
You'll miss his shining face
and watching your son grow.

But if and when you sober up
and your to old to date.
Don't try to piece together your past
you'll find your much to late.

Well written Lucie, your poem eloquently defined anger and sorrow in equal measure.

excellent poem...if only men who left their women and children read poetry

Well, Lucie, I am just spell-bound by what I have read...and I am pleased to say that your poetry has just over-whelmed me with emotion!!! -> I'm glad I could take the time to read a master piece and I hope you would take the time to make many more of them!!!

wonderful piece, and sadly truthful. Well done
