In a box, up on a shelf, This is where I kept myself I figured out a lot of stuff, And some of it was kinda tough Life and love and all about time, And how I'd live the rest of mine I knew I wanted to live my best In case this life is a pass/fail test The love I'd want would be rare To venture out, I didn't dare Men have never made the grade So in my box I stayed and stayed It was safe, I wouldn't get hurt Or feel as if I was only dirt When it was you that came around I took a chance and dared come down Off the shelf after ten long years And with you - there are no fears You are the one I learned about The man I'll never be without I thought I'd lost the light of day As far as love went anyway I thought I'd stay up there and mold 'Til I was very, awfully old I didn't mind or give a care I was pretty happy up there But now complete my life will be God above sent you to me!
