A gentle wind blew cross the land
Reaching out to take a hand
For on the winds the angels came
Calling out a mother's name.

Left behind, the children's tears
Loving memories of the years
Of joy and love, a life well spent
And now to God, a mother's sent.

With saddened heart, a child's farewell
Regrets of love, forgot to tell
Mother's whispers from above
"Twas not words, that showed your love."

As flesh departs, deep sorrow's pain
But mother's love shall e'er remain
Inside each child a mother lives
For of herself, a mother gives.

On angel's wings, a heavenly flight
The journey home, towards the light
To those who weep, a life is gone
But in God's love, 'tis but the dawn.

Wistfully beautiful, I think every child who loses their mother should read this. Do you mind if I print this poem out and show it to some of the children at my mother's work? I think it would give them a great deal of comfort.

I like the blend of earthly sorrow with the hope of an afterlife. This poem gave me chills. Keep up the work!

Tim,

Thank you for speaking of angels, a favorite love of my own...I hope what I post as a new member will be of insight to you as well. I lost my mother and father, although I am "of age", but the missing never stops. Thank you for your words.

Before the morn, in still of night,
A heav'nly choir, sings sweet refrain,
Out of darkness, springs forth the light,
A mother's love shall e'er remain.
