A tear of happiness once fell
From our dear Savior's eye
And left a cotton candy trail
Of clouds across the sky.

From them cascaded gentle showers
That fell to Earth below
And greened the grass and fathered flowers
And capped the hills with snow.

They filled the oceans, rivers, lakes
And painted upon high
With strokes a master artist makes
Bright rainbows in the sky.

A tear of anger also fell
From our dear Savior's eye
That left a thunder and lightning trail
Of clouds across the sky.

And, from these clouds, huge storms arose
Unleashing ice and hail
That echoed through the Earth below
Our Savior's mournful wail.

From his anger and his pain
Huge floods were given birth
And killer storms and hurricanes
Lashed out to punish Earth.

Are we living by God's plan?
Are his tears of rage or joy?
Will they bring rains befriending Man
Or otherwise destroy?

For your answer, search the skies
And please be kind to Him.
Our future lies in how He cries
And, buddy, I can't swim.

Oh WOW! Your poems are amazing!! I haven't gotten to read that many of them yet, but it is obvious how truely talented you are. This one in particular spoke greatly to me, I can't wait to read the rest. I hope to be inspired by your work.

Balladeer,

I liked it all till the last line....just did not seem to fit with the rest of it. It's like the mood/tone of the last line doesn't jive with the rest.
Suggestion for last line: "And how we sing life's hymns."

Just a suggestion...the rest is great.

Thank you all for your nice comments. It's always interesting to note people's different reactions. It's one of the things that makes poetry a wonderful thing.

Ya know, I can't even say that this is a bit of a change for you - every one of your poems shows another side of you -

Yours is a poem I'll never forget, it's beautiful and powerful at the same time, you have a style that cannot be imitated, I'm just honored to be able to read it.

Balladeer, I'm glad this came to the forefront again for all to see...and I'm glad you treat Him with some humor, or else we would have to say "The devil made me do it!"

Sir Balladeer, I keep thinking I've seen the best then another one comes along and throws me for a loop. I would say this is your best, but I know inside that self of yours we hav'nt seen anything yet.
