A LETTER FROM HER LAD©1990 by Genea Parker Her Wednesday was a hectic one, much tension throughout the day. As the lass drove home at dusk, she then began to pray: “Dear Lord, I feel frustrated that I couldn’t do my best. I’ll finish my chores tonight but first, please let me rest!” She grabbed the mail, slipped off her coat, and retreated to her bed to lie. She glanced through the mail and then, the lass softly began to cry. Her salty tears flowed freely, from her big brown eyes. Her lad had sent a letter and this is what made her cry. She carefully opened the envelope and read his words within: “I think of you at times and wonder how you’ve been. And by the way my lass, you haven’t written for so long. Have you forgotten about me? Where did I go wrong?” The lass was truly touched by the words from her lad. It brought back old memories of happy times and sad. She didn’t know his address since he had moved last year. “It’s better if I don’t write. He’s doing fine I hear.” But since he took the time to write a little letter She decided to write back. To do so made her feel better. She wrote to him that day and now awaits a reply. She hopes to hear from him before another year goes by. =============================== This Lad/Lass series began with me feeling like i was being taken for granted by the guy i was dating at the time. I wondered what would his reaction be if i was dead? My imagination ran with it from there.
