Ok..so it's not the most engaging subject in the world..just wanted to see if I could write about something mundane:

Oh dear, my friend, you will never believe it!
My face is grotesque! I have a huge zit.
Right there on my jaw for all to see
it’s as big as my face, quite literally!

Tonight at dinner I turned my head
and smacked a guy who almost fled!
His glasses went flying, he nearly choked
he looked ready to kill me - I waited to get poked!

Though I try really hard to squeeze out a pop
I can’t get that thing to let loose of one drop!
I’ve even tried using my Ginzu knife!
Maybe it’s there for the rest of my life.

I’ll buy it a wig and draw on a face
and proudly display it every place.
Just think of it this way, I’m never alone
I’ll have in my zit, a chaperone!

It is certainly never simple
To write a poem about a pimple
But you achieved this worthy goal
Now - what can you do with a mole?

As I approached, I thought was a dimple
On closer inspection, I spied twas a pimple
Not knowing her well, thought best to ignore
Rather than say... how's things going Igor?

She was rather quite pretty, except for the zit
I did have to wonder... the sheer size of it
That if it would burst... what mess it would be...
And hope to dear God... none got splashed out on me...

and I hang my head in shame for writing this..

It's great to write about deep meaningful feelings. But once in a while, I like to do something a little crazy, a little off the wall.

I (p)simply loved your responses! I intend now to smear pimple creme on my monitor!

With wonder I look at her double face
One tan, one albino, white as paste
I marvel at the sheer size of it
Does Guinness have a record on zit?
When it blows, hopefully later
Will NASA name it a terran crater?
I'm amazed at one so thin
Having a proper double chin
It's popular, and all the rage
I see ads for such on every page
In every magazine at grocery store
Filled with tips to even the score
But if this turns out to be acne
I'd recommend a cream from Acme

ok...ok....
I was tempted not to reply but, how could I not?? Simply put....bluk!!! (go ahead...I know it's an expression not a word...hee hee)

First day of school,
Jr. High I must say.
Woke up quite relaxed,
yet to my dismay....
A formation of sorts
appeared over night.
To the mirror I ran
shaking with fright.
A nasty 'ol zit!!
Oh how could it be?
All of the kids
will be laughing at me!
To squeeze or not
was the question I had.
Mayhap some make-up
won't leave it so bad.
Ahhh, my disdain
to this horrid state.
School is today?
Or, maybe wrong date?
Worse than I feared.
I just had to go.
Walked down the halls
but what do you know??
It wasn't just me,
this blasted affair.
Before my own eyes..
Zits everywhere!!!
Oh puberty....
not a fun game!
Yet to it there's one thing...
we're all just the same.

Never in my wildest imaginings did I think there would be so much poetry written about zits! I think we need to get Clearisil to publish our poems in a booklet to be inserted with every tube!

Thanks guys! This has been fun!

Well, I finally found out where all those Zit references were coming from. DeVine, I'm smirking enough to make people stare. And I loved Tim's response...

(Although I'm feeling a little inadequate for not posting my own poem on blemishes ... ah well.)

Dear Poet deVine, my new found friend,
I still think yer pretty (except your chin).
But I've rationalized and come up with a spin,
That's not a zit! It's your Siamese twin!

Yanno, its a sad, sad world we live in when a poem about zits gets this many replies. OMG - and I'm one of the ones replying with a poem of my own!!!!

(With some acknowledgement to Cheech & Chong "The Big Bambu." Anybody remember that one?)

When that third eye finally does burst
I recommend putty, knife, paint and sandpaper first
With that crater you'll have there
The only course is ACME Facial Surface Repair

The putty takes only seconds to sit.
Sandpaper comes in various grits.
The paint is a brand you can trust.
It's an adolescent's must!

But don't wait for that pimply day!
Go order your kit right away!
Call 1-800 ZIT-CARE
For ACME Facial Surface Repair

P.S. I enjoyed everyones poetic responses. Very funny! Sometimes the mundane just ain't so.

PoetdeVine,
A zit, is a zit, is a zi,
And little to do about it.
I would draw a ring above the place.
They hang them all over,
So why not on your face.

Enjoyed the poem.

I thought that I would write a bit
It seems everyone has had a zit.
But really, once you stop and think
It matters not if you drink and drink.

For once you've had enough of booze
Your memory you begin to lose.
You may wake up and still have a zit
But the head hurts so bad, you'll not care a bit.
