I did not intend to live this way
always on the periphery
having him only part time
and hiding all my misery

Sometimes I feel nothing,
don’t think it’s my right;
eyes open, I started this but
it’s cold comfort late at night.

I see him with his wife
as I peer around the door
tenderly he takes her arm
to lead her across the floor.

In my life there is no winner;
losing is the game I play
and I know there’ll come a time
there will be dues to pay.

I didn’t choose to love him
and now, he’s caught me here
no where to go, no place to hide
living for him in fear.

Last week I saw him looking
at a girl just have his age
and now I wonder when
she’ll find herself in this cage.

Yes, I stay among the shadows
hidden from society
branded by the simple act
of my adultery.

Boy does that guy sound like a womanizer! Too bad there are so many like him.

You wrong me greatly, Elizabethian one. Poet deVine and I are great friends and can speak to each other in that manner based on our close friendship. Jumping to conclusions is not necessary a good aerobics exercise.

How right you are when you say, "Jumping to conclusions is not a good aerobics exercise." When I made the womanizer comment, I was talking about the guy in the poem. I could tell you were kidding around with Poet deVine,sorry about the misunderstanding.

being the "other woman" can be hurtful at times, that is true
