Midlife©1999 by Genea Parker

Keeping pace with a life wasted
Steady beats the metronome.
Pleasures and joys not tasted
By those living in the honeycomb.

A heart that does not mind
Aching loudly it is driven.
Eyes with time become blind
And ask to be forgiven.

Asking for one delight
Emotion of love to provoke.
How the world can excite
Until the new one awoke.

There is one who will knock
And one day feel alive.
And another who will mock
Finally I will thrive.
