Like weeping waves the rocks gnashed along the shore,
Pillaging gray clouds streaking lightning,
The waves rose, the waves knew no bounds;
Upon the sea of storms sighing winds only stirred,
passing the land in the midst, the Isles of the Sea-Folk,
where legends live then die per summer
upon sighing blue waters beating fervently;
Mark me, there was only one word, or perhaps two,
desolation or calamity wide as the empty tomb,
farewell high seas as captains drowned,
muttering curses soon washed and drownt,
for the sea of storms rained the ocean aflood,
if an ocean can never be flooded?
Then bitter Seanchans set high their sails,
As invaders from the west and south came,
emerging from the Aryth Sea to the sea of storms,
such raging madness! Tempests held at bay,
as women bound by collars silenced the storms-
new pets from the netherworlds aboard,
scaled like dragons, quick as lizards, fierce three-eyed,
grolms scurrying aboard seeing from the distance
land! Land slowly crept up from the east and north,
and quiet waters flowed in pause,
the conquerors jumped offboard, swam to shore,
they seized Toman Head, seized Almoth Plain,
with long warfare music echoing darkly,
streaking the land with fear.
Then driven back they ran for ships,
the heaving thunder crying behind the vale,
stronger than their arrival, more fierce than summer,
the Seanchan sailed, rolled away,
Into the sea of storms, into the very heart,
where revenge was in the tempest's winds,
like Heartsbane the storm and sea flashed and burned,
among the fleeing hundreds of ships,
wide whirlpools emerged, strange creatures came
as ship after ship began spinning madly,
angrily to the very bottom of the sea,
then all was stilled as far as the Outer Lands.

Wonderful tribute to Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series.

Hey Nimrod - Glad you're here

We have a "Nimrod" Restaurant in our town - very classy place - It's been there since the Revolutionary War - It even got hit by a cannon... and the cannonball is still stuck in the wall - in the men's room - I saw it once.....um.. Nevermind......

Nice, indeed. I do hope, Nimrod, that you're a tad more prolific than Jordan, though - else we'll have to wait two years for your next poem...

(Okay, so I'm exaggerating. Blame it on my ire at being sucked into a great story that seems as if will never have an ending.)
