I've noticed lately that a lot of the content being posted in "The Alley" is political in nature. Perhaps there should be a discussion board specifically dedicated to debates about politics. Just a suggestion due to noticing a trend.

It appears that the second definition fits more closely than the first, since the difference seems to suggest some presistence in something other than memory. It's a useful word, though with limited applicability.

I feel especially bad that your Alley posts are gone, have been expunged, Bob. You put a lot of work/research into your posts. They were your work product in prose form and I think it’s very unfair they were deleted without warning. I can understand why some posts were edited, site rules and such, but to delete months and years of a person’s written work, to deny the author access to that work, is not something I find acceptable.
