I was wondering if it may help to put one or two more moderators in the forum to help make sure that there is more greeting to people who come there, and that everyone gets a critique
The only problem I can see in the above is that none of the tasks youíre expecting the new moderator(s) to undertake have anything to do with the job of being a moderator. While itís true that some existing forum moderators do indeed welcome people and reply positively and frequently, those things are done because they want to not because theyíre expected to.
Moderators moderate forums Ė anything else they may contribute is a bonus.
Which brings me nicely to my next point Ė Given that Moderators moderate or police the forum, why would CA need more moderators when they already outnumber the people consistently posting? Iíd go even further, on occasion it seems that they are the only people consistently posting, what CA needs is more members actively and consistently posting. Half a dozen people from Open every now and then are a welcome addition, though Iíve a sneaky suspicion they only turn up to rally round and show solidarity when someone raises an issue in the Mod forums, but they hardly ever stay around.
CA isnít short of moderators itís short of permanent and consistent contributors.
As strange as it may seem I donít think that getting people to post in CA is all that difficult, over the years there have been countless numbers of able critics and poets participating in CA . Including the people wandering in from Open, the trick isnít getting the people in there, itís keeping them once theyíre in there.
Maybe there could be some sort of election.
I donít think CA needs one as Iíve said but if there is some sort of election my vote would be for Rob with Hush running a very close second.
