I have found a lot of people enjoy writing parodies, ditties, playful ballads and sketches etc  Do you think there would be enough interest overall for a comical and satirical themed poetry forum at Passions?  It's probably a silly suggestion.  But I just thought I'd bring up to see what you thought...

why not just post in open where all can enjoy...there can be happy and parodies and ditties there...and balladeer posts his ballads there and Marge and a few others their ditties...and the rest post a hodge podge of poetry...I think that is what open is for...variety (except for x-rated) for all to read.

Just my opinion...

We've discussed "theme" poetry before, Essorant, and while I don't assume to speak for Ron, I think we've about covered all the bases.  Open is where most of our poets place their poetry not specifically based for Spiritual or Holiday...

and if we can get Toe, LngJohn, 'Deer, and a few others in to play all at the same time, it's ALL in Open!  That's when the games begin!

I wouldn't want to see that taken  away from Open.
I was just suggesting a seperate forum on the side

You know....this kind of goes along with what I was going to suggest. Although, my suggestion might sound a little strange.
How about a day or two each month called "Comical Comments Day"...? A day where every comment made to a persons poem was just silly, and the poet understood it was all in good fun. Not comments putting the poetry down per say, just amusing little things. Hmm....now that I have typed it out..it doesn't sound as fun as I thought it would.   Hee hee..nevermind. I'm so embarrassed. hee hee.

I know what you mean exactly Chris..
so much 'heavy' stuff is posted most of each day, everyday..
why not have a 'Lighten-Up Day'??
Maybe comical poems and replies or add-ons?
Cute or hilarious replies...funny poems, make everyone feel happier.
Just a change of pace day...
I think everyone would enjoy and could use a break once in awhile, eh?

It sounds wonderful...but...

there are those going through trying times...does that mean they  can't write in the mood they are in..or will they be off line because only light hearted and funny poems and responses are to be shared. Will this be in open...

I think it is good idea but not to the exclusion of others who may need that day to be a serious one.

Just a thought...

I think that would be where the different forum would be used ...

... perhaps that day, "FEELINGS" could be used as such a forum?

I agree that sharing a smile is good for the soul, for both the smiler and the "smilee" but, not everyone is expected to smile at the same time.

Though my comments and replies never seem to find their way to many of the posts, I too enjoy the lighter side of the poets of PASSIONS.

A seperate forum might just be "Good Medicine"!

You're also assuming that everyone would appreciate that kind of special "funny comments day."  I know that I, personally, write very seriously and would hate to see some kind of non-serious reply.  What's the point of receiving a reply to your poem if it's just meant to be a joke anyways?

Although, I'm not with the Open crowd so I don't make a very good example, I guess...

Local Parasite - I can see your point, and the excellent thoughts of others as well. I guess it was just a silly idea.
I am sure that most of the members of Pip take their poetry seriously, and I never meant to make it sound like they didn't.
Somedays you just need to take life lightly and have a good chuckle. But, now that I think about it....each poet has different insights into humour, and could be slighted. No problemo. Chris

I also agree that serious poets take their work seriously ...
I guess that means that all other work may not be serious?
I, for one, believe giving anyone that cares to read my work a smile serious work.

Nothing here was said against any forum of writing except a possible place, time, and theme for the lighter side to all the seriousness amongst the pages.

You have a point, there are poets who would not take to lightly to such responses to their work. Thats why a suggestion was made for the possibility of a place for those who might, a "smiling" minority, if you will.

Either way, a good suggestion, both for and against ...
but everyone should have a chance to smile, if and when they may want too.

One's outlook can be another's expression.

well, as I see it, there are plenty of poets allready in open or in the archieves, and if you want to smile or post a funny comment we have those people who allways have something light for you to read. I guess you know who is usualy funny and who is sad or disturbing, but I agree with the others that even just one day, not all of us are happy enough to try it.
