Hey ya'll...it's just me again asking a question.

I was wondering if there is any way for us to have a forum, or a discussion board for studying different types of poets.  I love learning about poets dead or alive that have contributed to the writing world.  Perhaps, we could learn new styles and techniques from the masters in the field???

Just an idea, but just as we have the Poetry Workshop...I thought it would be a great idea to have somewhere to learn about past poets, and pick up a thing or two from their writings.

Anyone with me on this?

If not, that's okay...I like being the "lone ranger"...it adds to my character...haha

Think about it anyway....

I actually think this is a great idea.  If any of the moderators/admins would be willing to operate that kind of forum then I would be an eager participant.  I LOVE studying and learning about the poets of old, and would never pass up the opportunity to learn about someone new...

With the netpoets.com resource available for classical poetry, it'd also be quite easy for us to find and provide links to copies of the poems we'd be discussing...

Really, this sounds like a great idea and I hope it gets the attention that it deserves.

I think it's a great idea, too, but question the interest it will generate. If the focus is on learning about classic poetry, there are probably better ways to do that than through discussion. There are over a thousand poems at the main site, with accompanying biographies and references, for reading and learning. Trying to duplicate that in the forums wouldn't serve much purpose.

If the focus is on discussing what has already been learned, or seeking a better understanding, then I say go for it. You don't need a special forum to open a thread on a specific author or poem. This site IS dedicated to poetry, after all, and any of our general discussion forums should serve well. If there proves to be a fair amount of interest, then we can talk about segregating the discussions to make them easier to find and follow.

Awesome idea - I was just thinking that myself - like maybe we could start threads then about a specific poet - make someone in charge of it Brian?????

This idea likes me.  I think it is needful.
Deep studying should be part of a poet's passions if he/she pursue higher fairness in art.
Perhaps this may be called "Passions Study" or "Poetry's Lorehouse" or "Passionate Porings"
