Well I'll throw my 2cents in bud:

That is that I don't think we should. Different forums have been discussed many times. The problem is, that it will get to a point to where (mind you, this is all my op) you have everything cataloged and neatly tucked away. Except... we all know you can't do that to writers! We don't fit in little boxes... well most of us anyway!

Ok - 2 more cents:

I think in addition here - with forums like that...well, people still want the exposure the Open forum, or one of the other large forusm gives them. Not saying it wouldn't work... just that I think many people might become disgruntled with the slower pace of a new forum. *shrug* We already ahve several forums (anyone else notice there's a couple missing today???) that are sllllloooowwww. ie: Prose; English Workshop. (sigh, and it's SUCH a good idea!) But, as with what I think might happen to such a specialized forum, getting people involved has proven quite challenging. Now if you had an idea for a more generalized forum... I'd be interested to hear it!

Jeffrey~
I personally feel that we have so many good forums
to choose from already.
Versatility in writing styles is something I like 'bumping' into on the forums I visit.

To have different forms of poetry isolated in specialized forums would probably keep some really good poetry from being shared by the majority of the visitors and members to this forum.

Let's just say, for instance, that Ron had poetry forums for 'duet writing', Haiku, Senryu, Sonnets, Ballads, Historical Event pieces, Friendship, Love - Lost Love, New Love, Lasting Love, Comedy, Children's Love, Fantasy, Memorial Tributes, Angels, Family, Science Fiction and then a Pets forum ....
Well, I think you get the picture. *click*

A well-rounded selection of forums where we are all offered a buffet of marvelous selections, on the same serving line is the way I would prefer to be fed my poetry.

The Open Forum offers such variety and surprise ...
I rather like it that way.
I've read some great poetic pieces that I may not have come upon if they were split into categories.

I'm sure there are some here that have the idea of a specialized forum they might like to see ... but truthfully, I think Ron has covered the bases pretty well.

I appreciate your thoughts and the opportunity to share mine.
Thanks for the post.

I think it is difficult enough keeping up with the forums we have already.  Just not enough hours in the day to read it all.  If we were to expand into a "duets forum" then, I agree with Marge here, we'd have to expand it even further.  The forums would be so large, we'd loose track of each other!!!  I think the Open forum suits me just fine for such endeavors.  Hopefully, I will find a duet partner soon and get to do some more.  It is fun and challenging to work with another poet.  if anyone is interested, please feel free to e-mail or icq me.

Thanks,
Lone Wolf
