What am I

but a thing to judge?

A thing for people

to poke sharp

faces at and say

'you should...'

How can I live

outside of judgement,

who am I

away from what

'they' think?

Do we ever exist

in quiet places

with no one watching us?

An ostrich may think so

but I do not

These shards

of opinion

slice me, cruelly knife me

I need an empty hole,

the dirt of deafness

but I hear too loudly

for in the hearing

I find my definition

I find myself

For what are we really

without the voices

of others

speaking through our life?

Indeed, we are reflections of the thoughts others have about us. 'Tis so until you realize that those voices should mean little enough to you. It is your decision of whether you will live under the judgement of others or live for your judgement of yourself.

Nice to hear from you my friend, though I hope next time is with more pleasant tidings.

Oh how I wish my arms could reach across the oceans that seperate us. Imagine it anyway my star.
I agree with Scott, in that while we often allow other's thoughts to influence who we are and how we act, we answer in truth only to ourselves.
"You are the only one who has to get up every morning and be ok with the reflection of who you are in the mirror."
The only justification required is to ourselves.
Hugs my bright star, though you feel dim now, you are still blinding to me.

Dream - it's kind of a existentialist thing. If there's no one to judge or witness then do our actions even exist? What is experience? Is it valid for its own sake or made valid by the reactions of others?
At the moment, though - who cares!
Thanks for your support, my friend.

My Chris - how happy I am to imagine that!!!
Sigh. It's a difficult thing. Right now. I'm offending one of my closest dearest friends. How to breach the gap?
Thankyou, my dear.

Goodnight my star, may your day become brighter.
Remember: If a person is truly your friend, then they will accept you for the things that you aren't, just as much as for the things that you are.

To help get you through your day!

Love Chris

Severn: I guess having read to the end about the reason behind the post...friends do understand that we all say harsh or maybe say something that doesn't come out quite right...not really sure what the issue was here but take heart, things will calm down and then maybe you can talk things through without emotion clouding everything...I've got my fingers crossed for you and at least I know you're smiling and who wouldn't be...all those lovely little faces..

HUGS

Severn, I find this to be one of your better pieces. There is no one to judge us but our own consciousness, and God [if you believe in a higher authority]. We allow others to judge us and have superiority because we are human, and have followed social dicta, i.e., the strong shall survive [but the meek shall inherit the earth]. Thank you for giving me some philosophical thinking this morning. I enjoy your work, as always.
