Stunned

motionless by a simple stone

lying half-buried in molding browned fall leaves

marking the death of a girl in the spring of her life, freshly fifteen

years old; barely a date, nary a name, only two plaintive

mysterious words heady and savage in their impact

pleading through autumn’s earthy silence

“... remember me ...”

No poem or

words of love could

ever touch me as deeply as this

unknown child’s

epitaph

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same.

Thank you all for leaving footprints!!

I didn't see your piece, Sunshine, but I would love to be able to. Could I find it, or would you e-mail it to me? I would really appreciate it!
