Dwarven King
______________________________
Grizlin Stoangard's stolid stature
stood atop a mighty throne
Pick and hammer wielding mighty king
throughout his kingdom known

Dwarven guards lined all about
as he stood amidst his hall
of famous riches, busts and statuettes
most envied, one and all.

And sitting on his gilded chair,
lined and rimmed in rarest jewels,
while the cortesans read from their lists
according to the rules

and then the daily bounty brought
and placed for his survey
finest gems and nuggets strewn about
atop a golden tray

Looking at his latest conquest
while stifling a yawn
and nodding to the servants
till one and all were gone

Then sitting in his caverns
in the mighty dwarven lair
he withdrew a fragile flower
that he'd placed amid his hair

Three leaves of precious clover
nothing like it in this place
as deep and dark and underground
a smile came to his face.
