When a frog croaked in the garden
Mr. Rabbit raised his ears.
But not much. Frog croaks are
Sounds a rabbit often hears.

But he raised them very high,
With all the raising power in him,
When he heard a voice nearby
Say, "First I shoot him, then I skin him."

With his ears erect and keen,
Rabbit heard a popping sound.
Then someone he had never seen
Was picking Rabbit from the ground.
