One day I walked along the beach in search of tiny shells,
enjoying all the sunshine and the salty ocean smells.
When I spotted on the shoreline a mermaid in the sand.
She was visibly upset and so I bent and took her hand.

I asked her "what’s the matter? Please confide in me."
"Why aren’t you out there swimming in the middle of the sea?"
I listened to the story of this beautiful half human fish.
About the reason she was crying and her secret mermaid wish.

She told to me a tale of female heartbreak and great woe,
about the secret love of her life, I think she said his name was Toe.
They were in love and to be married by some captain name of John.
In a chapel on an island that they were to live upon.

Well the gist of the whole story is that Toe had stood her up
at the alter of the chapel where they both had signed pre-nups.
The letter that he left her said "Sorry don’t think marriage is for me"
and now he’s known as Toerag, The Chicken of the Sea.

Well, actually, there was something really "fishy" about this broad. I really had every intention on going through with it anyway. But then I got to thinking about our poor children? Who's ever heard of a Toefin?....

ROFLMAO @ Toefin... how kind of you to spare the world that critter... can you imagine the tidal waves that would result from all the whales rolling around laughing? *G*

Mere-toes, Mere-rags, Toe-meres, Toe-maids! Talk about your sea monsters! Captain Nemo would have been scared right out of the ocean facing one of those beasts. Way to go Lucie… I think you got him hook, line and sinker…. But do you really what to real something in that looks like that! LOL!

I think the truth of this shall be
a story taken from the deep blue sea
I know this bride as well as I can
She was an Ethel, Ethel Merman!

Toe discovered that she was he
and confided the story to me you see
He knew you all would take to pickin'
so he ended up with that 'Seas' Chicken!
