Taking temporary lodging
Under indigent trees
Where three strangers
Stranded by the rain.
They proceeded
To introduce themselves
By first and surname.
The first, a workman
Of twenty odd years
License Expired
Explained how he had lost
All that which he held dear:
His marriage, his house,
And his career.
But Revenge Conspired,
A professional
Of forty two and four
Argued that he had
Somehow lost more
For he had burnt his bridges
And closed all open doors.
The last stranger
Who had listened
Was asked to make the call.
And if you must know
It is true he hesitated
As if to stall.
Heaven Inspired responded thus
He made the call and it was just.
To hold in our grasp
That which is called success
Is to have a home
And certain address.
But when one must vision
Beyond that which is real
Is to remain forever homeless
Unless you can feel.
So the challenge is far greater
He said
To those that are inspired
For one must create
That which cannot be seen
One must always waking live
To gain the perpetual dream.
And License Expired
And Revenge Conspired
Had to agree.
For while theirs was a course of
Their own taking
Heaven Inspired was on one
Of God's own making.
