Remember when we met our love
and we said "I'll love you always"
or maybe
"if this ends, we'll always be friends"
You and I....

Our hearts locked up tight
reliving those words
wishing to put everything right
but they can't be unsaid or unheard

Why do we hurt ourselves and our friends
when both is the last on our minds
if turning the clock back could make amends
pressing the pause key we'd opt for a rewind

We'd put hearts in our pockets
and pride on the table
unplug all from its socket
our mouths we'd disable

But here I am with hindsight
wishing to undo every wrong
to go back in time for a rewrite
and put us back where we belong

Take care with your words every time
cause there's always a price that you'll pay
think of the good and not the crime
or the cost could be friendship one day.....

Apologies for the 2nd post of mine for today, seems I have too many thoughts running loose in my head...

no apologies accepted, this is wonderful,...big hugs lady,
I have learned the hard way to bite my tongue, but when angered, don't we all have a tendency to defend our stance, how can you survive otherwise....oh gosh,my turn for sorry now, this hit me hard....my reply even more than your poem....hugs lady

HUSG back Iloveit...

I guess being my usual philosophical self I know it takes two to love and two to argue but only one to apologise...and of course one person to accept with grace and then of course you both argue over the acceptance...lol!

We humans are funny creatures..:-)

ps: How's the tongue?

Oooops...Pepper, you snuck in whilst I was replying...:-)

I wish someone could explain why it is that when we hurt, our brain disengages from our mouths and hearts...

Rainbow,
You have read my recent thoughts and put them to words beautifully here. I always seem to hurt those closest to me, letting emotion get the best of my mouth. Thank you for a gentle and much needed reminder.

Michael: That's because we care so deeply that we are capable of hurting and feeling the hurt...

A while back I made an agreement with someone, that everytime one of us said something that hurt, we'd apologise for being right..*g* and that way hurt feelings could be expressed and making up could then be honest and fun...but sometimes you lose your way...and when one can't experience the power of a hug or a voice that softly says "I'm sorry, forgive me?"...Words, emotions and an aching heart can sometimes be all that we are left with...

We should all carry around a bag full of marbles and stuff them in our mouths when we are about to say something that will hurt. We only cause pain when we lose our marbles.

Very nicely done Rainbow...although it breaks my heart to see you hurting so.
I couldn't agree more with Balladeers statement.

A good one, RG! Maybe instead of talking sometimes, we should sing what we want to say..I know I sing so poorly that if anyone were to listen, they'd cover their ears! No missteps would be heard! Hope the smile is back!

I'm off to dream but I'll leave you with my song..:-))

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Very true RG ... and standing by your rule I apologise for quoting someone *s* .. HUSG

When you meet your friend on the roadside or in the market place, let the spirit in you move your lips and direct your tongue.

Let the voice within your voice speak to the ear of his ear;

For his soul will keep the truth of your heart as the taste of the wine is remembered

When the colour is forgotten and the vessel is no more.

Khalil Gibran

I agree wholeheartedly with the "marbles in the mouth" routine. Sounds like a great way to keep it shut when it needs to be.
