Time

Traveling through fallen dusk
as if ears of corn the years we husk.
Strings of ideas danced with time
while the old brass church bell chimed.
Close within the lurking future
facial wrinkles begin to mature,
yet far away from recent past
youthful complexions fading fast.

Holding tightly onto the reins
not enough time
to be embedded with pains.
Wildly hoping for a slower pace
would much rather be
relaxing someplace.

Clock ticking away the hours
as weeds begin overpowering flowers.
Children gather in cobblestone streets
while others away on summer retreats.
Remembering the days at swimming holes
wearing bikini's for there were no rolls.
Marching time has no compassion
so it's up to us to follow the fashion.

And so Time takes its toll on us all, Lost Dreamer. You have very well captured a feeling of nostalgia, here. Make me want to sigh deeply.

Roll? You've got a roll? Is it filled with jelly? I loved the poem.

Pretty cool poem, LD. But you spelled the title wrong.

Very nicely written

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same.

Thank you all for leaving footprints!!

Michael: Please do not sigh, you are still very young in heart, soul, and mind. I would never wish you to be sad over a poem I wrote for fun.

LngJhnAg: Leave it to you to have me ROTFLOL

Tyson: Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

Seymour: Thank-you very much.

Justin Thyme: Last time I looked the spelling was correct for my spelling of time, but it is kind of a coincidence that you would have the same last name, but spelled different, what's up with that? Anyway thanks for reading my poem, and thinking it to be cool.

Julie: We should have a club, but I guess that's what health clubs, and spa's are for. Only problem is they cost to much darn money to join, and to continue being a member.

Ruth: Thanks, I appreciate your input.
