Kisses
alter only the mouth's
consistency,
softening it
into caring
and probing
and sweet persistance.

Kisses
only make the lips
moister;
more giving,
more seeking,
more yielding
in tender combat.

Fluttering the tongue,
aiming at the heart,

they cannot change
the shape of words.

You have done it again..."and sweet peristance"..."aiming for the heart"...
Never read a kiss so perfectly described.

Again, thank you all for reading and commenting so graciously :-) It seems throughout time one subject in poetry that has persisted is the kiss, and I had never really written my own tribute to it , so I decided to try. But then I found it difficult to narrow down just what a kiss is, or should be...it seemed to me so much more than is usually said. So I am honored you all think I got it right. Again, my thanks.

MMMmmmmMMMMmmm... you seem to know your topic Beki. It's my favourite too!

We never seem to tire of writing about, but better still indulging in such a sweet and simple act.
