I have a small corner in my back garden,
That I've dedicated to a special girl,
My little unborn daughter,
Who never made it into this ol' world.

She isn't there of course,
But I built a little shrine,
Where I can go and think of her,
When I find the time.

It lies under a Jacaranda Tree,
I've planted my Gernaniums there too,
A special place for the two of us,
There was nothing else I coud do.

I couldn't help or save her,
Didn't get to know her,
Didn't get to say goodbye,
Sometimes when alone back there I hang my head and cry.

I cried for the child my arm would never hold,
I cried for the precious gift the world would never know,
I cried for myself this longing mother,
With the love I had to bestow.

It has a little plaque there,
I didn't think to make it rhyme,
I wrote from the heart..
As best I could at the time.

'In Loving Memory of Our Daughter',
'Whose life was but a moment, but will be remembered always.'

Until we are together again,
I comfort myself with this thought,
That when I make my last journey to heaven,
She'll be in my arms as she ought.

DEDICATED TO MY BABY GIRL WHO LEFT US ON JULY 31st, 1994

Oh Pepper thankyou. I'm so glad you liked it enough to print out and put away in your daughter's memory box. That's a great idea actually.. I grieve for all mother's who lose children, I believe, there is no greater pain in the world, than that, of losing a child. I grieve for your loss too my friend.
Thanks again.

Isis....thank so much for sharing something so tragic and personal with us. Loss of a child at any age, time is so tragic and can be devastating. I'm glad that you shared this. May God Bless and keep the memory of your unborn child forever in your heart.
Hugs
Ruth

isis this is such a beautiful poem. to say the least you already know that i understand. i appreciate your comments and concerns for me and my family, i give you my condolences to you, and your family just the same. it hurts so much to know that there was nothing we could do, to save the only thing on earth that could ever mean that much.

Isis: Like you I try to create a special place to remember my daughter...but moving around means it has to go with me, so eventually I decided the best place was my heart..sometimes I cry, sometimes I smile and sometimes I laugh when an image comes to mind...having read your heart, mine is smiling with yours..

BIG hugs

Thanks Amber I felt awkward you know?
Pretty sure you'd understand!
Thanks RainbowGirl..but if I moved I could dig up the small memorial my husband made and take it with me. But like you say it's in your heart always..

Isis,
I am so very sorry. But you have left a beautiful poem in her memory, and we are all better for it. Thank you.
